Part 13 - Bucharest, Romania

On the morning after we boarded, the boat left Ruse (on the left bank) and went across the river to Giurgiu, Romania (on the right bank). From there, we had a bus tour to Bucharest.


The Palace of the Parliament was the idea of Nicolae Ceausescu, the Stalinist leader of Romania until he was shot by a firing squad in the Romanian Revolution of 1989. It is the world's second largest building (only the Pentagon is larger). It's the world's heaviest building, and the most expensive administrative building.


The Old Court Church (also called the Old Princely Church) is the oldest church in Bucharest.
