The Miracle Staircase in Loretto Chapel: This 33-step helical wooden staircase to the choir loft was built without a nail, screw, or any support, by a mysterious man equipped with a hammer, saw, and T-square. He accepted no payment, and disappeared when the staircase was finished. (The handrail was added later.)
